Vibration Dampeners for Tennis Spare the Joints

Oscillation of the racket passed on to the arm often causes joint pain. At this point, dampeners step in – yet, there is more. They also change the sound the racket makes when you hit the ball, which many professional and hobby players appreciate: while the noise without a dampener resembles a gong, it sounds more like a plop with the little helper. Many tennis players consider that considerably more pleasant. Moreover, according to tests, dampeners improve the feel for the ball since they reduce the trampoline effect, which occurs when you accelerate the ball out of the stringing: the lower it is, the more control you have. Hence, it makes sense to try out a dampener and gain your own experience.

Which Tennis Racket Dampeners are there?

Dämpfer

Most dampeners we offer in our shop are constructed to fit between two main strings. There, you can push them up or down on to a cross string. You may also buy longer versions, which you thread over several main strings. These models cushion more intensely than “two-string dampeners”; however, they are a bit more tricky to adjust. What’s more: dampeners not only improve your tennis racket’s playing characteristics. Since there are different colourful, funny, even quirky dampeners, they help you give your racket an individual look. Some even look like emojis, so you can subtly indicate to your opponent who they are dealing with. For many players, dampeners have therefore become their most crucial lucky charm on the tennis court.

By the way: when attaching the dampener to your tennis strings, make sure to place it underneath the lowest cross string, ideally in the middle between two main strings. If you attach it further up, you violate official rules, which might cause sanctions during tournaments or club matches.

What Changes with Tennis Racket Dampeners?

  • The sound when hitting the ball becomes duller
  • Your hitting arm feels fewer vibrations
  • Better feel, particularly for special shots

We hope you enjoy picking out dampeners and other equipment in our “racket accessories” section.
